A day in the life of a perennial! Perennials really have a lot to offer. Not only do they provide lasting color during their blooming time. Perennials are cost effective. Several years ago, I purchased a physostegia plant from a Perennial Sale Catalog. The plant struck me as a vibrant, sturdy plant. I purchased it for about $2.79. When it arrived, I hurriedly put it in the ground and watched it multiply, expand, bud and bloom. At the end of the season, I dug out this plant that had grown to an expansion of about 2 feet wide and divided it into over 45 new plants. Several years later, this one plant has expanded from the mother plant and has provided me with hundreds if not thousands of off spring plants. The orginal cost of this plant was $2.79, the offspring has brought the cost down to a fraction of the cost. If this had been an annual, I would have gotten one season summer season out of it. Rather, this one plant has been split and divided hundreds of times and continues to give the same vigor and beauty that the orginal plant initially gave. When I share these stories with other gardeners, I encourage them to look at the “Power of the Perennial”. A Day in the Life of a Perennial, also relates to you and I. If we speak encouragement into others on a daily basis, we are duplicating the power of a perennials. It is my observation that their are two types of people. (Givers and Takers) Givers invest in the lives of others! Takers take from others and don’t have the gift of sharing, they suck u dry till you have nothing left to give. I encourage the readers of this post to be givers, give into the lives of others. When a person begins to believe the power of an encouragement, it is then that they too begin to grow, expand and bloom. In turn, they too invest in others. The perennial that I spoke of originally was planted in my back yard. I have given, sold and literally planted thousands of divisions of this plant all over Clearwater/Beltrami County. People from all walks of life, find the same pleasure I found when i ordered that single plant. May the Power of the Perennial become a lesson for you to apply-and see what unfolds from your giving.
Have a great day!
